The Tone Zone in the bridge offers punchy, tight rhythm and lead tones with tons of sustain whilst the Air Norton in the neck gives smooth and velvety sounds, perfect for both gainy tones and clean passages. The chosen DiMarzio pickups are a classic combination that are tried and tested to work superbly together. The F2 has a little more output, a ceramic magnet (the Tone Zone has an Alnico 5), symmetrical coils. DiMarzio compare the IBZ/USA F2 to the Tone Zone. One of the most popular is the IBZ/USA F2, which was found in a number of RG series, S series, and Radius, to name a few.

It's part of a new J-Line designation of guitars built in Japan, but slotting in below the Prestige line. In September 2020 a new Talman solid body model, the TM730 was released in Japan. The Talman series was a response by Ibanez to the shifting rock music landscape of the early 1990s. The Talman name has been (and continues to be) applied to a line of acoustic guitars which have a body shape vaguely similar to that of the Talman solid body. They were joined be a new generation of non-Signature Talman models in 2015. A series of Noodles signature models where the only Talman solid body guitars available from 2003 through 2014. The Talman brand was revived in a small way in 2003 with a new signature model for Noodles Wasserman, the NDM1. The series was introduced in 1994 and was discontinued after 1998, except for a Paul Gilbert signature model, the PGM900, which was available through 1999. The Talman series has been described as 'a simple, no-frills, ready-for-just-about-any-gig guitar with easy-to-reach controls, a fast neck, and diverse sounds.' Ibanez used the tagline 'the Classic Alternative' in marketing the Talman series. Many models have lipstick-style pickups which were popularized by Danelectro. In keeping with the Tele tradition, Talman models feature primarily single-coil pickups although some models with humbucking pickups were produced. The Talman body has a shape similar to the vintage Telecaster. The series is inspired by vintage guitars such as Fender Telecasters and Danelectros. The first Talman models were introduced in 1994. The Talman series is a line of electric (and later acoustic) guitar models produced by Hoshino Gakki and sold under the Ibanez brand.
